ICT in Teaching Computer

We are currently
witnesses and sometimes protagonists of a dazzling reality that carries the
brand new track of the information society. In that sense, the learning process
is vulnerable to dramatic tone offered by ICTs, which improve and motivate
students’ learning, for example
current students are more interested in learning mathematics or other subject
using educational software than study using traditional resources ( flipcharts
, blackboard and chalk speck )
Therefore,
today teaching is going through rapid changes, due to the revolution of ICT ,
allowing in students to increase their capacity and skills of improvement in
working class and gather information for their research .
The
subject of Teaching Computers continues being a real challenge for us teachers
, because it is not only about repeating information already made or transmit
knowledge about the area, but teaching
to teach, that is, to train future professional, so when he or she enters to the stage of teaching, he or she
can deal effectively and efficiently his/her work. For Sanchez (2007) ,
teaching is defined as the " scientific discipline that explains the
teaching - learning according to the achievement of educational goals." In
this sense , the teaching coupled to any branch of human knowledge, should be
based on educational outreach goals. That is why we teach computer not only
requires mastery of knowledge but an appropriate methodology that allows them to
reach students , thus achieving the cherished significant learning and
therefore the development of core competencies in students.
Also,
this current scenario makes demands of development and adaptation of people or
organizations that undoubtedly represents one of the most important challenges,
as indicated Chumpitaz (2005 ) : " We must learn to learn to unlearn
continuously, along life and, additionally, network learn . "
During
my academic stay in Madrid, I clearly remember the words of a professor at the UNED
where she said "new technologies
are clearly presented as teaching aids to accompany other didactic- curricular
activities in the reform proposal, therefore, it is necessary to understand it
is a resource with unique characteristics, which the teacher must learn to
harness their educational potential."
From
this perspective , the course of Teaching Computer must be taught and learned
in a creative and innovative way, that is to say, through the use of
educational software as an unprecedented response to the time in which we live,
because if we look at the present, today we are in a context coloured by the
progress of science and technology : " Society of knowledge and
information."
Finally,
it is unavoidable that the course of Teaching of Computer, is based on
technology tools that guarantee compensatory results and leave it clear that
the technology has many advantages especially when projected to meet purposes
clearly the field of education, where every day is required to innovate.
